Festivities in York

On a VERY cold Sunday last week, my family and I bundled onto a coach for a day trip to York. It's so nice when all of the relatives get together, as it's not often I get to see some of them. I came armed with my fluffy hat that I got from Next last year, as I knew we'd be walking about in the chill quite a bit. It definitely turned out to be a good decision!

I thought I'd add a little bit of sparkle to my nails for the occasion, so I slapped on some Rimmel Spacedust nail varnish, which is amazing as it takes ages to start chipping.

So off we went on our merry little way to York, listening to Michael Buble's Christmas CD (AMAZING) and playing a few games of bingo to pass the time.

Luckily it seems to be a thing in my family that whenever you begin a shopping trip, first you have to go for a coffee and a snack. This sits very well with me, and we headed to a cute cafe called Georgina's that was all higgledy piggledy (like most things in York!) with a slanted floor and rustic decor. I ordered a fruit scone with cream and jam, and was delighted to see when it came that it was the size of my face!

For the rest of the day we wandered around the shops and the Christmas markets, stopping for a  mandatory mulled wine in between. A lovely festive trip.

December Photo Challenge

When I was scraping the ice from my windscreen this morning, I was thinking about what I could do this December to really capture the festive season. I've been neglecting my camera recently, so thought it would be a nice idea to photograph Christmassy bits and pieces to document the best time of year and also the end of 2014. So I've set myself a little challenge to blog about my photos and to get behind the lens more this month. I've only taken two photos so far, but I'm heading to York on Sunday for the Christmas markets, so will definitely get more then!

Festive scents

-one of the best things about this time of year. Spiced wine candle from B&Q, and Yankee Candle in Paradise Spice. They smell amazing, and got me feeling all Christmassy as I was writing cards last night.

Desk friends

Anyone that knows me knows that I love penguins. These little guys are sitting right by me at my desk and changing colour, giving a bit of a twinkle to my bedroom.
